How Does It Work?

»

Administrators (Principals, Media Specialists, Technology Directors, and Teachers)
SchoolPad is easy. All updates are performed through your browser. Once you log in with your assigned password and User ID, you will be automatically directed to your appropriate "Admin Page". From here, you will have access to all of the functions which are authorized for your Access Level (School Administrator, or Classroom Administrator for example).

Teachers can create their own home pages, homework pages, and contact pages all through a browser, like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Teachers can even specify "Active Dates" for their homework assignments which will not let the homework assignments appear before the date of the assignment. This allows you, as the teacher, to post the entire week's worth of homework, but also determine when the assignments appear on the site.

NEW *** (added 10/01/2002) Schools may elect to enable the Lesson Plan Module. This feature allows teachers to create Lesson Plans online and retain them for up to the full term of the current school year. Principals (or any designated School Administrator) can review Lesson Plans of any teacher at any time. At one quick glance it is possible to see which teachers have completed their Lesson Plan for a particular week or day, past or present.

Each School Calendar is specific to each school. Only YOUR events will appear on YOUR calendar. All calendar updates require the approval of the School Administrator, giving complete control to each school for all content that appears on the school's related content at www.schoolpad.net.

Students
SchoolPad is FREE, easy and accessible to everyone. Any student or parent has complete access to school related information at SchoolPad.net. Simply go to SchoolPad.net (or link to the appropriate page from your school's web site). From the SchoolPad.net home page, you can easily navigate directly to your state, county, and school with a few clicks of the mouse. If you are linking to the site from your school's web site, the link should take you directly to the appropriate page for your school.

You can view the Teacher Pages (teacher home pages, teacher homework pages, and teacher "contact" pages), calendar of events, awards, and special news and postings by simply clicking onto the appropriate link. It's that easy!!!.

What Does It Cost?

»

SchoolPad.net provides its services to each school for only $20/month*.
For less than 70 cents per day, your school gets the use of one of the most powerful programs of its type on the Internet. Some options, such as our Online Lesson Plans, may be additional costs, but for only $20/month, you get:

  • Online Calendar Module
  • ExtraCurricular Calendar Module
  • Teacher Page Module
  • Online News and Events Module
  • Awards Module

In order to enable the Lesson Plan Module for your school, there is a slight additional fee to cover the cost of data storage, backup, and maintenance. Add data is backed up nightly on the server and an additional backup is made each Sunday night. This means that it is extremely unlikely for your data to be irretrievably lost, but even in an absolute worst case scenario, our entire database should be backed up to the previous Sunday evening.

We don't depend on advertisements to keep our site operational. No pages viewable by the public will contain ads. This means that the students will not be exposed to ads in any way on the site. This also means that the funding of the site is solid and dependable since it is funded by the schools, NOT ADVERTISERS. It also means that the site must remain fully committed to the needs of the schools.

SchoolPad.net provides full access to students and parents for FREE !!!
SchoolPad is FREE, easy and accessible to everyone. Any student or parent has complete access to school related information at SchoolPad.net. Access is completely free for everyone at all times. At no time will SchoolPad.net restrict access to information posted by schools to a strictly pay-to-view basis.

There is no charge ever to students or parents to view the content posted by their school (or anyone else's school, for that matter).

* Each system is billed 10 months out of each 12 months, unless the system is on "year-round schooling", in which case the billing is 12 months a year. There is also a one-time setup fee of $150.00 per school which is often waived due to ongoing promotions.

Note: Be sure to ask about specials that we run from time to time.

Are There Any Incentives For Our School To Use SchoolPad.net?

»

Yes ...
There are 3 big incentives using the SchoolPad.net program - reliability, convenience, and time saved.

Reliability: Our servers have an uptime of well over 99.9% with very tight server security as well as program security.

Convenience: Can your school allow you to update your school related content from your home computer and then access it at school the next day? Can you, for instance, create Lesson Plans from home in the evening when it is convenient for you, and then access the same information from your computer at school the next day (and even allow your principal to review it)? With SchoolPad.net, you can!!!

Time Saved: The biggest incentive is the time that you can save using SchoolPad.net. Think about the process of creating or modifying a web page for your school. The steps below outline the general steps NOT using SchoolPad.net vs. using SchoolPad.net. You will see that there truly is no comparison.

Without SchoolPad.net

  • Open the HTML editing program (FrontPage 20000® or DreamWeaver®, for instance).
  • Open the html file to be modified.
  • Save the html file to your hard drive, disk, or network drive.
  • Contact the person that controls uploading files to the school's server(s) or web site.
  • Send him/her the file to be uploaded to the server OR get him/her to come by your office to assist you with uploading the file to the school's server.
  • Be sure to upload all images associated with the modifications you may have made AND be sure to check that they are all in the correct directories or they will not work. This involves using some type of FTP transfer program to transfer files unless the HTML editing program has an FTP feature integrated into it (most decent html editing programs DO have such a feature).
  • Open a browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, for example).
  • Close the HTML editing program.
  • Close the browser.
  • Thank the appropriate person for assisting you with the file upload(s).

With SchoolPad.net

  • Open your browser and login to SchoolPad.net.
  • Click the appropriate links to modify the desired pages.
  • Press the "Modify Page" button when you have entered your desired changes.
  • Check the page you modified to ensure you entered everything correctly.
  • Close your browser.
